Q4 2020 Performance of Top Air Travel Apps in Latin America

In the fourth quarter of 2020, air travel apps on the Android platform experienced fluctuating engagement levels among users in Latin America. Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look at how these apps fared in terms of downloads and weekly active users.

LATAM Airlines, published by LATAM Airlines Group, saw its downloads decrease from 28K in the last week of September to approximately 25K by the end of December. Weekly active users followed a slight downward trend, starting at 137K and dipping to 132K in the same period.

The Volaris app showed a notable spike in downloads during the second week of November, reaching over 30K, but generally followed a downward trajectory from 27K in late September to around 20K by the year's end. Active users peaked at 71K in early November but ended the quarter at approximately 58K.

In contrast, Flightradar24 Flight Tracker by Flightradar24 AB demonstrated an upward trend in revenue, with earnings increasing from $2.5K to $3.3K over the quarter. Downloads also grew, starting at around 11K and reaching 20K by the week of December 21st, before slightly decreasing to 17K. Active users showed a significant rise in December, peaking at 135K.

Aeromexico experienced an impressive increase in downloads from 10K in the last week of September to a peak of 25K mid-December, later settling at around 15K by the end of the month. Its weekly active users showed a similar pattern, with a substantial climb from 27K to 50K, before dropping to 38K.

Lastly, avianca maintained a relatively stable download rate, starting at 4.7K and ending the quarter at 6.4K, with a slight increase in late November. Active user counts for avianca saw a gradual increase from 16K to nearly 20K over the quarter.
